Tri Kappa, Chi Chapter, has awarded scholarships for the 2022-2023 season. Two academic scholarships and the Laura Blackburn scholarship were awarded in May.
Scholarship Chair Angie Garcia, stated, “Our committee met and had some very tough decisions to make. We were quite impressed by the applications we received.”
The Laura Blackburn award was created in her honor by the Chapter and her family to recognize a student who aspires to become a teacher. The 2023 winner is Caleb Peare, left, of Huntington. Caleb is the son of Michael and Lisa Peare. He is attending Wabash College in Crawfordsville pursuing Education, Spanish and French.
An academic scholarship was awarded to Andrew Szelis, center, of Huntington. Andrew is the son of Trent and Amy Szelis. He will attend Trine University majoring in biology/pre-physician assistant.
An academic scholarship was also awarded to Corbin Dowden, right, of Huntington. Corbin is the son of Steven and Lynette Dowden. He will be attending Purdue University majoring in actuary/finance.
Tri Kappa is a philanthropic organization promoting charity, culture and education. Chi Chapter wishes these three bright students all the best as they pursue their goals. Tri Kappa also wishes all the best to all of the students graduating this year.
