There’s something magical about Jean Fleck. Although she’s never formally learned how to play the piano, at the age of 97, she brings great joy to her community through her music.

Jean Fleck, a resident at Heritage Pointe of Huntington senior living community, recalled that as a child, her mother informally taught her only the very basics of piano playing. From that time onward she taught herself how to play, a passion she’s pursued since the age of ten.

“She remembers her grand piano, which she inherited from her aunt, who was very supportive of her piano playing. She recalls playing at church and school events and for friends and family,” said Brad Fuller, activities director at Heritage Pointe.

Fleck moved to Heritage Pointe of Huntington in 2019. Her music can be heard throughout the senior living community, as she practices every morning and plays at Sunday church services.

According to Fuller, “A special ‘double treat’ is when Jean performs near the bistro while residents are simultaneously sitting and enjoying a latte. We are so blessed to have Jean as our friend, and being able to enjoy her piano playing.”

“God is using me to share my piano music with others so it might brighten their day,” said Jean.

Brad, wholeheartedly agrees!
