Republican State Senator Andy Zay has filed to run for re-election in District 17 which, following last year’s redistricting, will be composed of Grant, Huntington and Wabash counties.

“Serving in the State Senate is an honor and a privilege, and I hope the voters will continue to allow me to serve them in the Legislature,” Zay said. “I remain committed to our shared conservative Hoosier values and will continue to fight for Northeast Indiana.”

He serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Insurance & Financial Institutions, and is also a member of the Senate Committees on Commerce & Technology, Environmental Affairs and Utilities.

During his tenure in the legislature, Zay has been an advocate for fiscal responsibility and has fought to help small businesses and to end the opioid crisis. He has also prioritized investing in rural Indiana by improving access to broadband, supporting farmers and maintaining local control.

Zay is also an advocate for Hoosier students and their families.

“Our students are our future, and it is imperative that we continue to improve educational outcomes for them and empower parents by supporting policies that allow them to choose which format whether that be it public, private, charter, or homeschool whichever is best for their children.”

Zay is the owner of a third-generation business, Zay Rentals and Leasing, and is a graduate of Indiana University. He and his wife Cindy have five children and reside in Huntington.
