Following a long hiatus due to the pandemic, an Autumn Gathering will be held at the Old German School on Sunday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. It will feature long time favorites, The Sharp Creek Singers and several readings from a collection of poems by James Whitcomb Riley.
Cider and doughnuts will be served and the public is invited to this free event.
The German School was constructed in 1887 by members of the St. Paul’s German Evangelical Synod to provide the area youth with religious instruction in the German language. After falling into disrepair, the building has been restored and now contains exhibits which tell the story of the German settlement which once existed in the area. The building is available for group meetings and tours.
The old German School is located on the Wabash-Huntington County line, three miles north of U.S.-24. For additional information on this event, please call (260) 388-4836.
