PHP recently received notification from the State of Ohio approving an application to sell additional insurance products and services in select Northwest Ohio counties. PHP was previously licensed to provide Third Party Administrative (TPA) services throughout the entire state of Ohio, and now Ohio employers have expanded access to full-risk and level-funded PHP products.

“In evaluating potential markets for expansion, Northwest Ohio is a natural next step to offer quality employee benefits to even more employers in our region,” said Gary Shearer, PHP president and CEO. “Many employers are looking for an alternative to the large, national insurance carriers, and PHP is the answer. As a non-profit, PHP is focused on healthy outcomes for our clients, members, and the community.”

Employers in the following Ohio counties will be able to consider PHP coverage for their employee benefits, effective January 1, 2024: Allen, Defiance, Mercer, Paulding, Van Wert and Williams. Businesses located in these counties with 51 or more employees will have access to PHP’s traditional full-risk large group product and those with five to 100 employees are eligible for our level-funded product, LEVEL Solutions. In addition, employer groups throughout the entire state of Ohio continue to have access to self-funded health plans and administrative services through PHP TPA Services.

“Northwest Ohio is a great fit for PHP,” said Ross Hensley, PHP chief sales officer. “We already have broker partners that serve this market, an established network of Ohio doctors and facilities, and a good number of members who work in Indiana but live in Ohio. We are eager to bring our local, personal approach to employee benefits to Ohio businesses.”

Quoting for January 1, 2024 coverage will be available beginning in October. Businesses can obtain a quote through their insurance broker or benefits advisor, or by contacting the PHP sales team at sales@phpni.com or (800) 982-6257. More information is available at www.phpni.com/welcomeohio.
