Parkview YMCA offering many fall programs

Parkview Huntington Family YMCA offers a variety of programs for youth and adults. The programs offered are open to both Y members and community members.
The following fall 2024 programs remain open for registration:
- Soccer: Registration closes July 30 for the five game season which kicks off August 24 for ages three through eighth grade. Late registration may be available. Call the Y for details. Games and practices are held at Yeoman Park.
- Dance: Fall dance classes begin week of August 12 and conclude with a winter recital in early December. New this fall: For individuals with special needs: Adaptive Dance for ages four and older. Also, for all adults age 18 and older: Intro to Ballroom Dance or Swing dance sessions. Additional sessions this fall include the following lessons: ballet, character, clogging, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, modern and tap. Depending on the class, these main sessions are open to ages three-and-a-half through high school.
- Music: Music lessons begin week of August 12 and will conclude with a winter recital in early December. Music lessons are for all ages, children through adults, and sessions include guitar, piano, violin, cello and voice. New sessions for this fall semester include woodwinds lessons of flute, saxophone and clarinet.
- Volleyball Skills Academy: A four-week skills session will meet on Monday evenings (5:30 to 6:30 p.m.), September 9 through September 30 for grades fourth through eighth.
- Cheerleading for PAL football and/or Y fall basketball: They Y has partnered with the PAL for kids to join the Y cheer squad to cheer at select PAL football games on Saturdays this fall. Kids may also cheer for the fall basketball session at the Y. Football cheer practice sessions begin August 16. Basketball cheer practices begin on October 18. Cheerleading is for grades third through sixth grades.
- Basketball Skills Academy: A four-week skills session will meet on Tuesday evenings (6 ti 7 p.m.), September 3 through September 24 for grades fourth through eighth.
- Preschool: Fall preschool sessions at the YMCA are offered as morning and afternoon sessions for children ages two through five years. Currently, openings remain for afternoon sessions only. Preschool begins the week of August 26.
The after school for Middle School program is offered at the Huntington YMCA site for grades sixth through eighth. Middle school students can enroll in the after school program to participate in supervised and structured activities on the Y campus for a minimal monthly fee.
Gymnastics sessions are for children beginning at age three-and-a-half. Parent/tot sessions are also offered. The fall gymnastics session spans September 5 through December 12.
Homeschool Enrichment is offered for homeschool families and their children to participate in physical education, swimming, and other enrichment activities at the Y. Homeschool enrichment sessions will begin after Labor Day and continue through mid-December.
The Y has several aquatics opportunities for all ages. Swim lessons are offered monthly for children in parent/tot classes through age 12. Adult sessions or individual lessons are options for all ages. Youth swim teams begin September 4 and continue through into March 2025 and are available for students ages kindergarten through high school. Swim team participants can sign up month to month.
Financial assistance is available for Y programming and memberships. Community members should inquire about joining the Y to learn more about discounted rates for the respective programming in which they are interested. Registration for some programs may be completed online. All program registrations may be completed by calling (260) 359-9622 or stopping by the YMCA at 1160 W 500 N, Huntington.
