Introduced in 2018, NIPSCO’s Public Safety Education and Training Action Grant has provided funds for nearly 100 community/youth safety education programs and various trainings for first responders.

Grant funding is not intended for purchase of equipment other than needed to support public safety education programs and training.

Grants available for $500 to $5,000

Areas could include, but are not limited to:

  • Damage prevention on underground natural gas lines
  • Police and fire department fire and carbon monoxide safety
  • First responder training and programming
  • Community and youth public safety education programming
  • Grant funding is not intended to cover the purchase of equipment other than tools needed to support public safety education programs and training

Items to be included in the online grant application:

  • Defined project goals
  • Defined alignment with project and community priorities
  • Detailed project description including amount requested, scope of project and community impact
  • Overview of how support will be recognized (press release, social media, website, etc.) and how it will benefit your organization
  • Attach project budget, board of directors, other project contributors and W9

In addition to items listed above, the NIPSCO Safety Grant Committee evaluates requests on the following areas:

  • Alignment with community needs
  • Community visibility of projects/programs
  • Value of projects/programs to community served

Applications will be accepted through November 8, 2024 and recipients announced week of November 25, 2024.

  • Click on Safety & Basic Needs on giving pillars pull down menu
  • On Indiana tab, select Public Safety Grant
