The 54th Annual Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe Breakfast was held Thursday morning, June 15 at the Historic Forks of the Wabash with nearly 100 people in attendance. John Nelson was named the 2023 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe in recognition of his contributions to his volunteer work in and around Huntington County.

Heritage Days 2023 celebrates Huntington at 175 years as we celebrate our demisemiseptcentennial. Todd Latta, Huntington County Chamber board chairman-elect, opened the breakfast, and welcomed those in attendance. Latta then introduced John Nelson, Edward Jones, as the master of ceremonies for the event.

The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce congratulates Nelson on being named the 2023 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe.

The photo at left shows 2022 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe Stan Bippus presenting a check for $500 to Bob Burnsworth, 2021 Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe. The contribution was given from the Chief’s Legacy Fund, and will be used for the downtown Meal Ministry. The Meal Ministry provides free lunches and dinners to those in the community who visit during meal times each day.
