Dear Supporters,

The Youth Services Bureau (YSB) and HOPE (Huntington Outreach for Prevention and Empowerment) hosted the 13th Annual Walk for Hope on Saturday September 21. We would like to thank this year’s sponsors: Bowen Health, Bippus State Bank, Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, Intertech and Maple Heights Behavioral. We also want to thank Huntington County Community School Corporation for their generous support of the multipurpose track.

We would also like to thank our community partners who shared their information. These partners included: Bowen Health, Maple Heights Behavioral Health, HARTA, Parkview SOS, Community Medical Services, United Against Overdose, Renovate Counseling, Safe Place, HOPE and LOSS.

Over 145 participants of all ages joined us in this time of remembrance of those lost to suicide and to bring awareness to the impact suicide has on Huntington County.

“For every four laps or one mile represented another Hoosier who lost their lives to suicide. This is a very sobering statistic,” shared Jan Williams.

Community partners were also available to provide information on supportive services available within Huntington County. Mark your calendar for next year’s Walk which will be Saturday September 20, 2025.

HOPE – suicide education and prevention task force for Huntington County will meet again on Tuesday October 22 at noon at the YSB’s office at 1344 Maple Drive, Huntington. Feel free to join us to get more information and to get involved with suicide prevention in Huntington County.

To learn more about suicide prevention efforts in Huntington County or how you can be involved, contact the YSB at (260) 356-9681 or email adm@ysbofhuntingtonco.org.

Sincerely,

Jan Williams
