The Huntington County law firm of Bowers, Brewer, Garrett & Wiley, LLP has announced the winners of their 2023 educational scholarships. Drew Baker, Samson Vickrey and Corbin Dowden received scholarships to be used toward their continuing education.

Drew Baker, left, is the son of Eric Baker and April Bauer, and will be majoring in sports media production at Ball State University. He has been active at Huntington North High School in class council, Campus Life, Huntington Youth Leadership Program, HNHS baseball and was a Huntington North “Pit” leader. Baker has also been a head broadcaster at Huntington North sports broadcasting. He has been involved with the Huntington County Humane Society, New Life Kitchen Ministries, Blessings in a Backpack, Garrett Food Bank and Huntington July 4th Fireworks cleanup.

Samson Vickrey, center, is the son of Nicholas and Haley Vickrey and plans to attend Purdue University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in engineering. At Huntington North, Vickrey has been active in National Honor Society, freshman mentoring, Varsity Singers, Varsity Brass, marching band, pep band, theater, academic team and quiz bowl. He has also been active in the Open Door Soup Kitchen and the Huntington Parks and Recreation Department.

Corbin Dowden, right, is the son of Steven and Lynette Dowden and plans to major in actuarial science at Purdue University. He has been involved at Huntington North High School in class council, student council, National Honor Society, Huntington Youth Leadership Academy and track. Dowden has also been involved in STEAM lab as a high school intern, Emmanuel Community Church, the Downtown Business Association, Rotary Interact Service Club, Love INC and Blessings in a Backpack.
