Huntington County HELP scholarships open

Huntington County HELP has opened applications for scholarships for the 2024-25 school year. HELP Scholarships of up to $1,500 are awarded annually to:

* Full-time college students who are at least in their second year or above of higher education

* Huntington County residents

* Majoring in special health care fields including speech and hearing, social work, special education, physical and occupational therapy, nursing, and medical or mental health specialties.

The Jane Nes Memorial Scholarship, given in memory of longtime board member and caseworker, enrolled as a full-time or part-time student and accepted into an accredited nursing program with the intent of becoming a Registered Nurse.

The John Decker Memorial Scholarship, in memory of longtime board member and supporter. This scholarship is awarded to a high school senior or a student enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in post-high school studies and has a qualifying disability as identified by the following criteria 1: the scholarship applicant has had an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) during their years in high school; and/or 2: the applicant has been a client of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

Applications for all three scholarships will be available at huntingtoncountyhelp.com/ from January 27, 2024 through March 18, 2024. All applicants will be notified of the scholarship committee’s decision in April 2024.

The mission of Huntington County HELP is to serve residents of Huntington County by providing services, assistance, equipment and financial aid to disabled individuals, students pursuing careers in helping fields and programs to detect and rehabilitate disabilities in children.
