Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne will kick off its second build in Huntington on Columbia Street on Thursday, August 17. Shiann and Derick, and their two children can’t wait to see work begin on their home and ultimately achieve their goal of homeownership.

“I’m most excited to start making memories!” shared Shiann. “I’m thankful for the sense of safety that will come with living in a newly built home. Thank you to everyone for making this opportunity possible for us; we feel so blessed.”

Their home features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a one-car garage. It will be built on Columbia Street, across from Habitat’s first Huntington build on Beard Street.

Habitat staff will join Shiann and Derick, Huntington community leaders and local business leaders to celebrate the start of the build with a press conference on Thursday, August 17, at 8:30 a.m. Construction of the home will begin with volunteers and staff immediately following the press conference.

This year’s Huntington builds are made possible in part by CenterPoint Energy, 1st Source Foundation, Bendix, IHCDA and Novae.
