“In our community, it sets us apart,” said Patrick Davis. The club manager for Dogwood Glen Golf Course is referring to the fact that the 9-hole course is owned and operated by Heritage Pointe of Warren senior living community. “It’s a rare and very special amenity. It keeps residents engaged and happy,” Patrick said. It also keeps people from the greater Warren area engaged and happy as they are welcome to play the course, participate in leagues and tournaments, hold banquets, take lessons, peruse (and purchase from) the pro shop, and use the high-tech golf simulator. Dogwood Glen hosts small wedding receptions, showers, rehearsal dinners, birthdays, graduation parties and more. “We can host 75 people and have additional nice seating outside,” Patrick said adding, “It’s a great place for people to get together and visit. We have some food, mostly cold sandwiches and hotdogs, but we’re working on building a kitchen to host special dinner nights.”

The golf course opened in 2006 and was designed as an amenity for the residents of Heritage Pointe of Warren, some of who have golf carts. “The senior living community has a nice woodshop and indoor swimming pool. This is another great amenity,” Patrick said.

In addition to its multiple games, tournaments, and leagues, Patrick’s hoping to expand Dogwood Glen’s offerings further. “We’re trying to encourage non-golfers to come and enjoy being here to experience the beauty of the course and have some food, host events for area businesses and more,” he said.

Patrick said that while Dogwood Glen is a public golf course, the residents of Heritage Pointe of Warren are proud of it and take on the responsibility of welcoming non-members, engaging with the golfers, giving pointers, and encouraging them to come often. “They want to make others aware of the fact that they can enjoy this wonderful gem in the community,” he said
