Huntington is set to host an extraordinary art exhibition showcasing the creative talents of two distinct artists, Bobby Blair and Eva Thomson. This Dynamic duo displays separate styles of work, a reflection of generational knowledge of the arts being passed down, celebrated and practiced. This side-by-side is a representation of the impact between father and daughter, working in tandem as artists but allowing their own studio practices to emerge and be celebrated.
Bobby Blair, a Huntington native and a retired Army Special Forces veteran, is excited to present his debut art exhibit at the PAEC. Blair’s artistic journey is a testament to his versatility as an artist, as he skillfully delves into a range of mediums, including acrylic and oil paintings, digital art and tattooing. The main foyer of the gallery will come alive with a captivating array of “Bob Ross-esque” paintings. Blair’s canvases will transport visitors from tranquil countryside scenic views to intimate kitchen table still lifes and even a touch of whimsy with his “Ceasar Bone-a-part” portrait. However, the focal point of his exhibit will be the “Tattooing Timeline,” thoughtfully displayed in the heart of the building. Through this unique presentation, Blair aims to offer visitors a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the intricate process that tattoo artists undergo to craft meaningful and beautiful designs for their clients.
Eva Thomson, a Roanoke native, brings her own distinctive artistic flair to this collaborative exhibition. Her artistic journey began with a passion for sewing, which has since evolved to encompass painting, drawing, and most recently, pottery. This past summer, Eva’s pottery creations, featuring mugs, vases, and specialty pieces, found their place at the Huntington farmers market. Currently pursuing a degree in Studio Art and Art History at Ball State University, Eva continues to create, and her latest works aim to normalize the diversity of feminine bodies. Through her art, she invites viewers to appreciate the beauty of these unique forms and celebrate the individuality that makes each one special.
The opening reception will occur on October 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibit will be open to the public from October 7 to November 4.
