Cancer Services endowment opportunity

Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana and the Community Foundation of Huntington County are pleased to announce a matching gift offered toward donations made to the Cancer Services Huntington County Endowment Fund. The board of Cancer Services has offered a $10,000 match to double donations made to the Endowment Fund. This match is still in effect.
In 2022, Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana provided substantial support to residents of Huntington County affected by cancer. They served 227 people, including nine children with cancer. There were 879 interactions between Huntington County clients and advocates, 107 people received emotional support from client advocates. In terms of supplies, Cancer Services provided $11,893 of medical equipment, supplies and other practical items at low or no cost, loaned 66 items of durable medical equipment and provided 157 cases of nutritional supplement drinks at low or no cost to Huntington County residents. In addition, $5,273 was provided in direct assistance to 32 families and 34 massages and wellness sessions were provided to clients and caregivers.
Carla MacDonald, a resident of Huntington County since 1978 and a professor of social work at Huntington University, is both a past survivor of cancer and currently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been a board member of Cancer Services of NE Indiana since 2020. “I have found the services provided by Cancer Services to be a tremendous support while on the cancer journey for both myself and family members who walk along beside a loved one with cancer,” commented Carla. “I encourage Huntington County residents to assist with the immediate needs of people with cancer by financially supporting Cancer Services.” Carla also encourages anyone experiencing cancer for themselves or a loved one to reach out to Cancer Services at (260) 484-9560 or online at www.cancer-services.org.
“Cancer Services plays a vital role in the lives of our neighbors battling cancer,” stated Matt Ditzler, Community Foundation executive director. “We are thrilled to have a match provided by Cancer Services to sustain these important services in Huntington County.”
Donors wishing to take advantage of the $10,000 match have two options. Checks made payable to the Community Foundation of Huntington County can be mailed to P.O. Box 5037, Huntington, IN 46750. Credit and debit card donations can be made by going to https://www.huntingtonccf.org/donate/ and selecting the fund name.
