Ever since Alyssa Malone, family nurse practitioner, joined the Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – Family Medicine team at 577 W. Geiger Drive in Roanoke, she has been providing thoughtful, personal care for residents and enjoying a homecoming of sorts.
“It’s great to be back in the area!” said Malone, a Huntington University alum who lives in the Warren area. “I love having this opportunity to serve in the same community that helped shape me as a young adult.”
“We are so pleased to have Alyssa join the Roanoke PPG office,” said Doug Selig, market president, Parkview Health South. “Her blend of experience and professionalism will certainly be welcomed by her patients. It’s such a win for our community to have a provider who returns to their roots to practice medicine.”
Alyssa Malone, MSN, RN, APRN, FNP-C, completed her Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) degree at Ball State University in Muncie. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion after receiving her bachelor’s degree in public relations and marketing from Huntington University.
Malone is a member of the Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Indiana (CAPNI).
Before she joined Parkview, she cared for patients in two primary care physician’s offices, a hospice and palliative care organization, and an urgent care clinic. Those experiences have given her a broad-based background for treating the variety of medical conditions encountered in primary care.
“Having practiced in a variety of settings, both as a registered nurse and as a nurse practitioner, has given me a well-rounded view of the patient experience,” said Malone. “It allows me to understand and appreciate where my patients and their families are coming from so we can work together toward their healthcare goals.”
While Malone enjoys building relationships with patients of all ages and at all stages of life, she has special interest in the areas of pediatrics; anxiety, depression and other mental health issues; and women’s health. She focuses on treating the whole person, not just the ailment.
“My approach as a healthcare provider is caring for patients holistically, taking into account each person’s physical, mental and emotional health,” she said.
Outside of work, Malone enjoys exploring the community with her busy, growing family.
“I am a proud mama of three amazing little boys, so most of my leisure time is spent with my family,” she said. “We enjoy trips to the zoo, outings to nearby parks, and spending time together as a family around the house. I am also active in our church and enjoy reading a good book – if I can sneak in a few moments of time alone!”
Malone is accepting new patients. She has extended hours, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays, for the convenience of patients who find it challenging to make it to appointments during regular business hours. Call (260) 425-6750 for appointment scheduling.
